If you want to connect the hard drive to your tv purchase a western digital media player from best buy for $89.99 this is the greatest unit ever designed. I have even setup the moveis so you can browse them by their dvd case covers. Nice feaure.

Information On External Hard Drives
Make sure you purchase a hard drive with enough free space for the data you want
Any external hard drive with either USB or eSATA ports will work for me
You might as well purchase the largest external hard drive. A 2TB would be the best. Since I do updates often you will have some free space for updates
